Joan Jett dropped her cover of T. Rex's 1971 classic "Jeepster," the latest track from the forthcoming tribute compilation Angelheaded Hipster: The Songs of Marc Bolan and T. Rex.

Jett is no stranger to slapping her name on UK glam-rock tunes - including her blowout 1982 cover of The Arrows' "I Love Rock 'N Roll." While she maintains the rockabilly authenticity of the song, she colors her rendition with her raspy, sassy snarl alongside her band in the studio.

Produced by the late Hal Willner, who died of COVID-19 compilations in April, Angelheaded Hipster comes as a two-disc, 26-song collection that features a tag team of U2 and Elton John ("Bang a Gong (Get It On)"), Father John Misty ("Main Man"), Lucinda Williams ("Life's a Gas"), and Todd Rundgren ("Plant Queen.")

“Hal had a unique vision of Marc Bolan's music, and working on AngelHeaded Hipster brought him great joy," supervising producer Rachel Fox shared to UCR. "Speaking for those closest to him, we will forever be heartbroken at the untimely loss of our beloved friend and irreplaceable creative engine. Hal, who referred to AngelHeaded Hipster as his White Album, was eager for everyone to hear these beautiful songs and to start thinking about Bolan and T. Rex again. This album is a testament to Hal’s spirit.”

AngelHeaded Hipster: The Songs Of Marc Bolan And T. Rex, available for pre-order now, is slated to release in early September via BMG.
