To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Prince's Controversy - first released Oct. 14, 1981 - a demo of single "Do Me, Baby" has been released from the late icon's vault.

Recorded in 1979 during the sessions for Prince's sophomore self-titled album, the demo would later get fleshed out as the epic, bedroom-ready first-side closer to his fourth studio album. A rough cassette mix of the stripped-back recording was recently discovered in The Artist's storied vault, and the new mix matches the specs of that mix as Prince made it.

In addition to its digital release, the demo will be issued on a limited edition, one-sided purple vinyl single (with an etching on the flip side) and a replica cassette (limited to only 1,981 units) of that recently-discovered tape.
