BBC Radio Stars Unite in the Great British Singalong

Grab your hairbrush-microphone and get ready for the next round of the Great British Singalong - a communal singalong effort intended to uplift spirits during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Last Thursday (April 2), five BBC radio stations united in the mega-broadcast singalong, a joint effort by Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, 1 Xtra and Asian Network.

Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Greg James kickstarted the effort  on his show, alongside X factor host Demor O'Leary, who was filling in for Zoe Ball, on Radio 2.

"This is a unique moment," said Radio 1's Greg James. "Isolation doesn't mean you have to be lonely."

Lauren Laverne was on 6 Music, Dotty was on 1xTra and Harpz Kaur was on the Asian Network.

Listeners submitted suggestions for the songs, which included Prince's "Raspberry Beret," Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline," and Florence + The Machine's "You Got The Love."
