Madonna celebrated her birthday in 2021 with an exciting announcement: starting in 2022, she'll be curating and releasing a series of "expansive deluxe editions for many of her landmark albums."
It's part of a celebration of the 40th anniversary of her recording career - beginning with debut single "Everybody" in 1982 - as well as a new recording and publishing deal with Warner Music Group. The company was responsible for releasing nearly every one of her albums, from 1983's self-titled debut to 2008's Hard Candy, as well as releases through her own Maverick label (including albums by Alanis Morissette, Deftones and Michelle Branch). As part of the new deal, rights to her three studio albums after that - MDNA (2012), Rebel Heart (2015) and Madame X (2019) - will revert to Warner in 2025.

"Since the very beginning, Warner Music Group has helped bring my music and vision to all my fans around the world with the utmost care and consideration," the pop icon said in a statement. "They have been amazing partners, and I am delighted to be embarking on this next chapter with them to celebrate my catalogue from the last 40 years.”
In recent years, rare Madonna remixes have made it to streaming services, stretching back to the '80s with digital EPs of "Like a Prayer" and "Express Yourself." A 35th anniversary edition of her third album, 1986's True Blue, was also made available to stream and download in July.
