What time is it? Time to listen to the Totally 80s Podcast - and Prince fans are gonna love this one.
This week, Lyndsey Parker and John Hughes team back up with Scott T. Sterling, tour guide through the music of 1981, for the first of a two-part look at Prince's protegees! As '80s lovers know well, His Royal Badness wasn't just a hitmaker for himself: he wrote and produced songs for countless artists, from fellow Minneapolis groups The Time and Vanity 6 (plus the reorganized Apollonia 6, featured in Purple Rain), to drummer Sheila E., pop star Sheena Easton and many more. (2019's must-hear Originals collected demos of songs he wrote for others, like The Bangles' "Manic Monday," a No. 2 hit in 1986 kept out of the top spot by Prince and The Revolution's "Kiss").
