A Christmas of deep cuts is coming, America!

New Order will premiere its 88-minute concert film "New Order: Decades" on cable network Showtime in the United States on Friday, December 27. Also available on-demand that day forward, the documentary highlights the group's collaboration with a synthesizer orchestra, originally performed during the 2017 Manchester International Festival, and in Turin, Italy the following year.

Directed by Mike Christie, the film debuted on UK television last year, and featured live performances and exclusive interview clips with founding member Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris, keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, guitarist Phil Cunningham and bassist Tom Chapman.

The series of special shows were done in collaboration with visual artist Liam Gillick, who fulfilled the band's wishes to reimagine their catalogue cuts by constructing a striking backdrop of square frames, behind which the 12 synth players of Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music sat.

The ambitious 18-track setlist was a seamless reshaping of all eras of the band's music, including songs that hadn't been performed live since the 80's and early 90's and a rare resurfacing of their Joy Division material, such as "Disorder."

Released earlier this year, the accompanying live album from the Manchester shows, "∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif) New Order + Liam Gillick: So it goes.." was unconventional both in title and scope. Note, this is not a sterilized album of greatest hits, but a broadened experience of New Order fully flexing their creative muscles. The resulting craftsmanship is meticulous and fiery - even without "Age of Consent" or "Blue Monday," the striking electricity created from the performances' pulsating synths and emotive string backdrop is striking, just the same.
