Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger Dies of Coronavirus at 52

The acclaimed producer and songwriter Adam Schlesinger passed away today (Wednesday) from coronavirus complications at the age of 52.

Variety reports Schlesinger passed away Wednesday morning.

Schlesinger had previously been reported as “very sick and heavily sedated” on Tuesday by his long-time attorney Josh Grier. Schlesinger had been in an upstate New York hospital for over a week, Grier said.

The Emmy-winning songwriter was highly regarded for his work as Fountains of Wayne's co-founder, including "Stacy's Mom" and "Sick Day" as well his compositions for TV show "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Schlesinger has also been nominated for Oscars, Tonys while winning Grammys and Emmys. Throughout his storied career, he was nominated for a total of 10 Emmys, five for serving as executive music producer on "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend."

Schlesinger is divorced and and is survived by two daughters.
