Having conquered virtually every realm of comedic music over the last four decades, "Weird Al" Yankovic is coming back to film - with a biopic that'll have to be seen to be believed.

The polka-playing parodist today (Jan. 18) announced that he'd be co-writing Weird: The "Weird Al" Yankovic Story for Roku's streaming service. (Co-writer Eric Appel will also direct the film.) In a truly unbelievable bit of casting news, the project will feature Daniel Radcliffe - yes, the actor who played Harry Potter - portraying Yankovic. (A head-turning decision, to be sure, but Radcliffe has ably pivoted to off-the-wall comedies like Swiss Army Man and the TV series Miracle Workers.)

“When my last movie UHF came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule,” Yankovic announced. “And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

The movie is clearly not taking itself too seriously, promising it'll "hold nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle." (Yankovic is, of course, a self-professed non-smoker and vegetarian, a happily married father for nearly 20 years, is known among fans for his kindness and generosity, and has, to this writer's estimation, never even so much as sworn on camera.)

And it's not the first time the concept has been tried, either: Appel put out a star-studded fake trailer for the concept in 2013 (including a cameo from Yankovic himself) on the humor website Funny or Die - who will be producing the project.
